The Fife Arms proudly operates the Braemar Creative Community Fund, a donations-based programme designed to sustain local charitable cultural organisations such as St Margaret’s and Braemar Castle, the proceeds of which are distributed annually. A small donation is added to each guest bill to help to protect the future of Braemar’s creative ecology.
The village of Braemar is an extraordinary place. Home to a remote yet vibrant community, it sustains its cultural life through the collective efforts of local volunteers who run and care for the village’s cultural spaces and participate in its many festivals, societies and clubs.
Braemar’s local people and places are deeply intertwined and provide the foundation of its unique creative ecology. The Fife Arms is proud to be part of this community and its creativity, and to continue the historic tradition of welcoming visitors from across the globe to experience the vibrant culture of the Scottish Highlands, originated by Queen Victoria and Prince Albert when they made nearby Balmoral Castle their family home.
Queen Victoria and Prince Albert were both great champions and patrons of the arts, a tradition that has continued throughout all generations of the British Royal Family to the present day.
Despite its diversity, Braemar’s creative ecology is fragile and will only survive for future generations of visitors and residents with the support of a new international ‘family’ who equally value the arts and the special cultural experiences that the local community and dedicated volunteers provide.
All guests at the Fife Arms are invited to become members of its extended cultural family by donating £5 as part of their stay towards supporting the Braemar Creative Community Fund, in turn helping to sustain the future of Braemar’s creative ecology.
Braemar Creative Community Fund donations are added to bills automatically, but can be removed upon request at Reception upon check-out. The Reception team would also be delighted to arrange increased donations to enhance support when requested.
