Elsa's Cocktail Bar

An exquisite jewel box of a bar, Elsa’s brings Art Deco glamour to the Highlands. Inspired by fashion designer Elsa Schiaparelli’s signature style, love of shocking pink, and ‘bon mots’, this bijou bar offers Champagne and hand-crafted cocktails that are beautifully presented. The perfect spot for a pre-prandial aperitif or a late-night digestif, the bar showcases Scottish spirits and elixirs.

There is no need to book a table to visit Elsa's, walk ins are very welcome. For a private visit, please call 01339 720 202.

Inside Elsa's

Elsa’s bar is named in honour of Elsa Schiaparelli, who was first introduced to Braemar by her great friend, Frances Farquharson, the first wife of the 16th Laird of Invercauld and former editor of Harper’s Bazaar.

One of the most prominent members of the Surrealist movement in Paris, Elsa Schiaparelli challenged her contemporaries with designs that explored themes of desire, death, and the subconscious with dreamlike originality. Among her most significant legacies was the invention of ‘Shocking Pink’, a colour which you will see reflected throughout the bar.

Signature Menu

The Elsa’s signature menu pays homage to Schiaparelli’s iconic collections of the 1930s, spanning the diverse influences of history, art, and the natural world. Using local ingredients, the cocktails combine flavours and textures to honour the boldness, creativity, and complexity of their inspirations.

Idiosyncratic and avant-garde, Schiaparelli was the first to design each of her collections around a central theme – from the revered Circus Collection, which contrasted joyful motifs with reminders of mortality, to the whimsical Pagan Collection, which explored classical mythology and natural metamorphoses.

Cocktail Masterclass

Indulge in a unique experience with the experts at Elsa’s Cocktail Bar. The Cocktail Masterclass is an exploration of the craft behind great cocktails.

During the masterclass, the Elsa’s team offers insights into the ingredients, techniques, and processes behind each drink, including batching cocktails and creating distinctive garnishes. The story of Elsa Schiaparelli, her legacy, and the art that defines the bar is woven throughout.

The masterclass lasts approximately an hour and is £150pp. Afterwards, guests are welcome to stay, enjoy the cocktails, and relax in the Art Deco bar.
