Croft

The Hill room celebrates the Cairngorms landscape as seen from the window in this calming retreat. The mountain scenes painted directly upon the walls are by scenic artist Grant Watt, who also produced a quartet of small, complementary paintings for the room in a similar style.

The Mountaineer room explores the romantic iconography and mountain routes of the Cairngorms in both words and images. The walls are decorated in mountain scenes by artist Mark Sands, a warm climber’s jumper hangs on the wall, and landscape oil paintings by James Kay take pride of place.

Twin windows face the open views of the Cairngorms foothills in the Farmer room and fill the space with natural light. The colours of the room echo the hills, and drawings of Highland cattle and livestock by the artist Mark Sands float upon the walls alongside Morris & Co. landscape textiles.

The Scottish landscape is filled with myths and local legends of the supernatural. The Fairy & The Fiann room is devoted to this otherworldly realm of sìths and fianns, the ancient Gaelic hunters who are still recorded in the place-names of the region and explored throughout artist Alec Finlay’s work in the room.

The Pine Wood room celebrates the regal Scots pine through an almost immersive experience. Its traditional but ‘n’ ben box bed is crafted from local timber and set amidst drawings and paintings of towering trees on the walls by scenic artist Corin Sands.
